Location
The Westin Melbourne hotel is an oasis in the heart of the city|s bustling
Central Business District. With a commanding location on Collins Street|
arguably Australia|s premier street. The Westin Melbourne preserves wellness
in travel with a number of signature brand offerings including our Westin
Heavenly® Beds| Gear Lending by New Balance®| and WestinWORKOUT® Fitness
Studio.
Department
The Sales & Marketing team is committed to driving new business whilst
maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. The Sales Manager is
part of the complex sales team that look after The Westin Melbourne| Sheraton
Melbourne and Four Points by Sheraton| Melbourne| Docklands and reports
directly to the Complex Director of Sales and Marketing.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Actively soliciting new business
Managing the property|s key corporate and group business accounts
Conducting sales calls| site inspections and familiarisations as required while incorporating the hotel brand initiatives
Possessing excellent written and verbal communication; as well as strong relationship building and negotiation skills
Seek and develop new business opportunities| through external sales calls| proposals| telesales| specific site inspections and other appropriate methods.
Achieve monthly| quarterly and ad-hoc sales and activity related goals.
20% of role to be focused on developing |new| business for the hotel whilst remaining 80% is focused on managing existing accounts via strategic account planning including rotational sales calls| entertainment and phone activity.
Deliver presentations to clients.
Prepare and submit all required reports.
Participate in conference call meetings as required.
Conduct familiarisations| site inspection and dinners as required.
Represent the Hotels at trade shows| interstate sales call weeks| functions and events as required.
Undertake specific projects as directed by Director of Sales and Marketing and General Manager.
Actively participate in the Daily Business Review| Weekly Sales Meeting| and Group pace meeting and any other related meetings.
Maximise utilization of the Marriott Global Sales Offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
Participate in training activities as required.
Deliver enthusiastic| positive| helpful and respectful client communication| ensuring precise and effective information transfer.
Address client queries within 24 hours of initial contact.
Ensure recovery calls are dealt with in an appropriate manner.
Identify sales leads from daily newspapers| trade magazines and network at events.
Report all competitor activity| industry intelligence and market trends that may impact on the Hotel are reported and handled in the appropriate manner
Requirements
Expert knowledge of the industry| the competitive landscape and the local market
Ability to identify trends in the market and apply this knowledge to maximize sales
Extensive sales experience with corporate / group segments in the hotel industry
Hotel sales experience with proven revenue results and the ability to anticipate and understand customer needs to provide solutions
To be successful in this challenging and rewarding role you will have previous experience in a similar role within a 4 or 5 star hotel/resort.
