POSITION SUMMARY

This role is responsible for identifying| developing| and managing accounts
within specific segments| markets| or geographical territories on behalf of
Sydney Harbour Marriott. Maintains or increases current account production for
group and catering opportunities in line with the hotel goals and targets.

CRITICAL TASKS

Identifies new or existing markets/accounts that meet property sales strategy.

Understands or is familiar with the fundamentals of assigned accounts.

Executes Total Account Management penetrating accounts within the MICE and Corporate sector driving opportunities for group accommodation bookings as well as meetings & events.

Develops a comprehensive sales plan to generate business from identified markets/accounts.

Determines the account|s needs| Marriott|s objectives and marketing activities of each assigned market/account.

Continuously communicates the benefits of the hotel to the customer via all communication methods| emphasis on face-to-face sales activities.

Drives/manages account group and catering production through improved customer loyalty by excellent account management and sales intensity / activities.

Prospects new business through phone solicitation| outside sales calls| customer visits to the hotel| trade shows| sales blitzes| direct mail| newspaper/journal research and other customer interaction or research.

Develops marketing intelligence: new product ideas| competition activities| new customer trends and performance.

Spends majority of time (85%) in face-to-face customer interaction outside of the hotel. Required to be out on the road in the marketplace.

Strives to meet measurable targets and goals| as assigned for individual and team.

Conduct site inspections for key existing clients and new business.

Be actively involved in the Sales & Marketing Department in order to maximize sales.

Ensure compliance with Marriott International| minimum standards pertaining to Sales & Marketing.

Maintaining existing Group accounts and sourcing new business to achieve the hotel|s targeted occupancy and room revenue (approx 40% existing / 60% new).

Completes and exceeds sales appointment quota of minimum 10 calls per week.

Maintenance of all sales activities and account information in the Marriott systems.

Preparation and action of monthly sales activities plan.

Entertaining of qualified clients within the hotel F&B Outlets.

Attend and assist in the co-ordination of hotel functions as requested by ADOS and/or DOS/M.

Emphasis to maintain| grow & nurture high profile within the travel industry and foster relationships with hotel accounts.

Interstate sales trips may be required however this will be dependent on the sales & marketing budget and approval by DOSM.

Participation in selected trade shows however this will be dependent on the sales & marketing budget and approval by DOSM.

Attend weekly sales meetings with Director of Sales & Marketing.

To ensure all accounts are brick walled to avoid penetration by competitors and ensure all possible business e.g. Social clubs are targeted for additional business.

Attend monthly review meetings with ADOS and/or DOSM to discuss results versus goals in the annual sales call plan and company sales strategy.

To be flexible to carry out other duties and assignments as requested by the ADOS and/or DOSM.

Strong overall sales skills

Hunter sales person who has strong prospecting and closing skills.

Ability to fulfill the role out in the marketplace in face-to-face qualified client appointments

Understanding of the hotel sales strategy and business mix needs of group and catering business.

Ability to cross sell Marriott Hotels across Australia

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 3 years experience in similar role

Preferred tertiary education

Must have a current NSW Drivers Licence

Must have own car
